Andy and I went up to the White Mountains for Valentine's Day weekend; I've been wanting to see the mountains in Winter so we thought it would make a good trip. We headed up there Friday night before the blizzard, (I think we're at 90 inches total in Boston now...) and we had a great time.
We found out we definitely don't have the gear or clothing we need to be outside for any length of time in sub-zero cold, so unfortunately we didn't get to go snowshoeing like we planned. I still managed (kind of..) to get some winter photos of the area- I'm really pleased with them! I was starting to think there would be zero visibility for the entire weekend, but it cleared Sunday afternoon. It was nice driving through the notches and along the Kancamagus- there was lots and lots of blustering snow and few people.
We also went to see the Ice Castle in Lincoln on Friday night. I'm so glad I braved the cold with my camera- it was incredible! I highly recommend taking a trip to see it before it closes in March- go at night for some spectacular lights so long as you can take the cold. I heard the princess from Frozen visits on Saturdays :)
